Documents are processed in memory only — never written to a database, object storage, or temp files. Extracted text is sent to OpenRouter (primary) or Anthropic (fallback) solely to locate fields. No document content is logged: logs carry the byte count and outcome only, and Prometheus metrics are numeric-only.
Findings are per-requirement only — the checker never renders an overall verdict, never states a product may be offered for sale, and rules whose enforcement posture is pending verification (§300.301 total-THC) render NEEDS_REVIEW, not pass/fail.

What a check is — and is not
- Is this legal advice?
- No. HempDash does not provide legal advice. Findings restate what a named, dated requirement asks for and what the document shows against it; what to do about a finding is a decision for you and your counsel.
- What exactly does a finding cover?
- Each finding is scoped to the single named requirement it checked, with its citation and effective date attached. It does not speak for any requirement it did not check.
- If every finding says MEETS REQUIREMENT, is the product cleared?
- No. A COA is one document about one sample. It is not a whole-product determination, and findings on it do not establish whether a product may be offered for sale.
- Why do some findings say NEEDS REVIEW?
- Because that is the honest output when the document does not settle the question. NEEDS REVIEW means a human should look — the checker reports what it could not locate or could not determine rather than guessing.
